James Courtney the new SBR driver?

EDIT: Rumour has been confirmed ... get the full story from the horse's mouth

Well the rumour mill has been in full swing the last few days ..... The latest bit of goss is that Stone Brothers Racing have signed James Courtney as Ambrose's replacement.

James Courtney is currently with the Holden Racing Team, having made his V8 debut at Sandown earlier this year. He has pretty much been an enduro driver this year with HRT.

Previous to this, he was driving in the Super GT Championship in Japan. He has also been a test driver in Formula 1, with the Jaguar team (now Red Bull Racing).

This guy is really talented, and if the rumours prove to be true, I think SBR are in for another strong showing in 2006.

My top F1 highlights for 2005

Not strictly V8s, but I'm also a Formula 1 fan.

Here are my favourite highlights from the 2005 F1 season:

* Webber's scrap with de la Rosa in the latter stages at Bahrain.
* Webber's battle with Alonso at Monaco, also Webber's 1st podium finish.
* Raikkonen's spectacular tyre failure on the final lab at Nurburgring hands Alonso the race win.
* Alonso wraps up the F1 championship in Brazil -> Youngest F1 champion ever.
* Alonso's pass of Schumacher at the 130R corner at Suzuka. 19 laps in, Alonso passes Schumie on the outside of the corner, at 180mph (290kph). I don't care what form of motorsport you like, that is hardcore.
* Another highlight from Japan was Raikkonen's race. He starts from last place, and he makes his last pass (Fisichella) on the final lap to win the race. Unbelievable.

Needless to say, the lowlight was the debacle at Indianapolis, but just as well there were plenty of highlights to compensate :-)
