Anyone who is watching their weight knows that it is all about controlling your portions and much more than the foods you eat. Many people struggle with keeping snack foods around the house because they are unaware of their portions and end up eating too much. But now, our once-a-diet-enemy Nabisco has created a whole new line of products that are directed towards portion-sized conscious consumers.
Yes, Nabisco now offers several of its yummy traditional snacks in smaller, sweetly portioned servings called 100 Calorie Packs. The line includes: Wheat Thins, Cheez-Nips, Honey Maid Graham Crackers, and Chips Ahoy Cookies, to name a few. The packs average about 3 grams of fat and are a great alternative to junk foods. They are also perfect for dropping in your briefcase, or carry-on for a satisfying snack.
Though I love most of the 100 calorie snacks, the Oreos are lacking the creamy white center. One of my faves by far is the Lorna Doone Shortbread pack which offers 18 miniaturized versions of Nabisco’s traditional shortbread biscuit. I love the crunchy and smooth buttery taste with ice cream or with a dab of strawberry jam. Excellent. The 100 calorie packs Ritz toasted chips “minis” are also quite good and quite a few crackers come in that snack-sized bag. These guys are great fit for lunch boxes or a briefcase. The Cheez Nips are also yummy broken up over a green salad for a cheesy, croutony lunch treat. But I am a cheese fanatic, so perhaps a bit biased too.
Many have no trans fats and no cholesterol. For those all-natural freaks: you already know that these snacks do contain artificial colors and flavors too. But what I like about these treats is that we are allowed to snack again, guilt free! Imagine that.
